The Housing Market Is Always Changing
The Housing Market is Always Changing
When your full time job is a professional realtor, you tend to pay very close attention to a variety of items that may influence the value of homes as well as the time period it takes to buy/sell a home.
With the recent interest rate increase, you can feel a pause as people evaluate the equity position that they may have in their home.
I know it may sound strange that a market can change in a matter of weeks, but we have learned through experience that it can. With such a large increase in value in the San Diego market in the last few years, many people are considering taking their profits off the table.
Please don't forget that a married couple who have lived in their home for 2 of out of the last 5 years can avoid any taxes on the sale of their residence up to $500,000.
I encourage you to carefully evaluate what is likely your biggest investment. Only you and your family can determine if a change of course is prudent. Make sure you include your financial adviser, accountant, etc. as you decide what may be best.
